TAKING AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION TO A NEW LEVEL
The Walking Dead: Last Mile (TWD:LM) is a Facebook-exclusive massively interactive live event (MILE) that was launched in July 2022. Players are immersed in a universe inspired by The Walking Dead and are given the freedom to create their own character, join the post-apocalyptic community, interact with other gamers, and influence the story according to their actions and decisions.
The challenge here was to find reliable multilingual zombie lovers (i.e. community managers) with knowledge of the gaming industry and The Walking Dead saga to make sure the client’s needs were met while they were offline, helping players facing technical or in-game issues as well as building, developing, and engaging with the community via the in-game chat.
Even if there’s no rest for the wicked, our human CMs sleep too! That’s why we put together teams of two CMs in each time zone to alleviate the workload in Prosper Landing.
HUNGRY FOR MORE?
Having found our flesh-eating experts based in four different time zones, we coordinated our watches and put in place a rota with 30-minute overlaps between each shift. This was built-in handover time to discuss their notes and instructions and ensured solid communication between the different teams.
Our team worked closely with Sid Lee and Genvid Entertainment developers, the game publishing branch of Genvid Technologies, to relay any technical issues reported and make sure any bugs were fixed as quickly as possible so players could carry on contributing to the survival of their community.
Even in a zombie-ridden wasteland, the WITies were on your side!
As of right now we are officially wrapped ~ it’s been awesome working with y’all.
I hope we have more chances in the future to work together.
